Hermitage Lodge’s award-winning Hunter Valley restaurant ‘Il Cacciatore’ specialises in Northern Italian inspired cuisine. Il Cacciatore has long been a favourite with visitors and Hunter Valley locals alike.

The key to good Italian food is freshness, simplicity and generosity. Il Cacciatore’s seasonal menu takes advantage of fresh local produce, authentic Italian ingredients and house-made pasta. Plus the wine list is everything you would expect of a Hunter Valley restaurant.

For your entree
Try the steamed mussels in a chilli tomato seafood broth with toasted garlic bread. Or the baked smoked cheese roman gnocchi with salami, cherry tomatoes and basil. We also love the deliciously crispy zucchini flowers filled with chorizo, feta and ricotta, accompanied with a red capsicum coulis and rocket pesto.

For your main
There’s everything from squid ink linguine with chilli garlic prawns to house-made pizza or chicken saltimbocca with roast garlic, soft polenta and steamed green beans
Here are just a few of our popular mains to make you hungry:
Pan fried Gnocchi with Duck Ragu accompanied with sweet potato, charred corn, red peppers and baby spinach
Tuscan Atlantic Salmon with green olives, artichokes, red capsicum in a tomato basil cream sauce and lemon dill potato mash
Chargrilled Scotch Fillet with golden potatoes, mushroom tart and seasonal vegetables with horseradish and garlic butter
For something sweet to finish
Try the traditional tiramisu or affogato made with choc chip gelato, hot espresso, house-made biscotti and Frangelico.

What you need to know
Il Cacciatore is open for dinner seven nights from 6pm; Lunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm and takeaway is available for pickup from 5pm Monday to Friday and 12pm on the weekend.
A children’s menu is available for 6pm and 6.30pm, reservations only.
Il Cacciatore is fully licensed, with full bar service, and a wine list showcasing some of the Hunter’s best wines. Reservations are required during the COVID-19 period.
