Mid-Week Delights in the Hunter Valley

Want to experience the best of the Hunter Valley on a budget but don’t want to miss out on the best experiences while you’re here? You’re in luck! As the season changes, local restaurants, wineries and more are extending their opening days but we are keeping our same great mid-week value accommodation.

You can stay at Hermitage Lodge midweek from just $179* per room per night (sometimes even cheaper if you’re lucky!)

Three nights mid-week in the Hunter Valley looks a little like this.

Day 1:

Start your holiday when you check in at Hermitage Lodge from 2pm.

Drop your bags before strolling across the road to First Creek Wines. Open 7 days until 5pm and offering

one of the best winery experiences in the Hunter. Tell them you’re staying at with us to get the VIP treatment!

Stroll back to your accommodation (no need to worry about designated driver), take some time to unwind and relax before finishing your day with neighbourhood Italian at Pescara Restaurant, located on site at Hermitage Lodge. Choose from the a la carte restaurant or more casual bar. Once a month they even hold a BYO night on a Monday so you can bring along your favourite tipple.

Day 2:

Pop over to Gregs Espresso at Pokolbin village for a killer coffee and toastie to fuel up for a big day of wine tasting. Be sure to swing by Hunter Valley Smelly Cheese shop to gather some goodies for golden hour overlooking the vines from your deck – you’ll need it after a big day of wine tasting!

A wine tour is a great way to explore the great wineries, distilleries, and breweries of the region. Two Fat Blokes offer a half or full day tour with pick up and drop off at your Hermitage Lodge accommodation.

Now it’s time to come back and soak up good views and good vibes from your balcony, or a picnic in our vineyard, with those treats you purchased earlier. Be sure to get an early night because the next morning is going to be an early wake up but oh-so worth it.

Day 3:

Wake up before the sun because today you’re watching the sun rise over Brokenback mountains from the clouds… in a hot air balloon! Synonymous with the Hunter Valley, this truly breathtaking experience is not one to be missed. See Balloon Aloft or Hunter Valley Ballooning.

Head back to your room for a mid-morning nap and recharge or power on with brunch at one of our favourite local spots, Café Enzo or The Deck Café never fail to impress.

If you’re all wined out after yesterday, we would recommend taking a stroll through Hunter Valley Gardens, embrace an up close encounter at Hunter Valley Wildlife Park or get competitive at Hunter Valley Aqua Golf and Putt Putt. Or keep it simple with a dip in the Hermitage Lodge pool and a stroll through our beautiful grounds and on site vineyard.

Our reception is always too happy to assist with taxi arrangements so you can enjoy the full wining and dining experience.
